Why is there no English requirement at the visa stage?
The entry and permission requirements in Appendix Global Talent do not include an English-language requirement. The Digital Technology endorsement assesses the published talent or promise criteria, and the later visa application assesses the route's immigration requirements. English appears in the settlement provisions.
When does English actually become a requirement?
English applies when you apply for settlement. Under GT 13.1, an applicant must show speaking and listening at B1 for an application made before 26 March 2027, or B2 for an application made on or after 26 March 2027, unless an exemption applies. Settlement rules can change before an applicant reaches ILR, so confirm the live requirement on GOV.UK when preparing that application.
Does my application still need to be in English?
Yes - this is a document-language point rather than a personal English test. Your endorsement application and its evidence are prepared and submitted in English, and any supporting document not already in English needs a certified translation. Your recommendation letters, personal statement and evidence pack are also submitted in English.
